Giving back to our community

The Nanaimo Region of the John Howard Society strives to address problems facing too many people: homelessness, addictions, mental health challenges, and incarceration. Each of these represents barriers to transitioning to a “normal life” and that’s what makes the work of the Nanaimo Region of the John Howard Society so important.

Proceeds from the Nanaimo Boat Show will be used to provide services and programmes that help to keep a roof over the heads of the chronically and episodically homeless people, address addictions effectively, and with compassion, provide a new start for youthful mistakes so they start to travel along a better path in life, and assist with job and life skills.
